"TELECOM CAREER PROGRAM" (TCP) is being organized by BSNL , in partnership with Faith InfoTech, a Technopark based company, for enabling young engineers to launch their career in the telecom industry. The program addresses the severe shortage of skilled professionals in the Indian Telecom Industry today. TCP is designed as a four-month fulltime integrated program with the very latest in technology including GSM, CDMA, MPLS, VPN, 3G, WiMax, apart from Project Management, Service Quality Delivery and Soft Skills to groom the complete telecom professional of the 21st century. The training would be conducted at BSNL's RTTC Trivandrum and Faith InfoTech Academy, Technopark, Trivandrum..
60 Candidates who were selected for the first batch of the program from all over south India commenced their training on the same day at Technopark. Mr. K.S. Srinivasan while addressing the gathering said that given the exponential growth in the telecom sector and global ambition of Indian telecom players, the candidates who complete the training can expect to be grabbed by an industry which is starved of trained work force. | MACFAST - an institution of higher learning and Faith InfoTech, Technopark, signed an MoU to offer IT Industry Practice Program to MCA students of MACFAST. Faith InfoTech, being located at Technopark campus has access to industry best practices and feels the pulse of the IT industry on a daily basis. It has excellent relationship with a large number of IT Companies, particularly companies at Technopark, for recruitment of trained candidates. Thus this partnership would enable MACFAST and Faith InfoTech could bring in their respective strengths to evolve and execute a benchmark programme in Academy – Industry Interface.
A key objective of the proposed collaboration is to enable MACFAST students to get first-hand industry exposure. This would help the students to acquire additional technical competencies and other key attributes required for being effective professionals. The higher level of competencies and professionalism demonstrated by the students of MACFAST would enable them to get selected by leading companies on completion of their course, thereby delivering measurable value to the student community and building the brand perception of MACFAST.
The collaboration framework also envisions that MACFAST and Faith InfoTech shall work together to develop an extensible and scalable model for Academy – Industry Collaboration in different areas, thus becoming a model for such initiatives across the state of Kerala and beyond. For example, the collaboration can be extended to offer joint Staff Development Programs under the aegis of AICTE, ISTE etc, and to involve other industry and academic partners for raising the quality of higher education. The frame work also provides for sharing the Industry Best Practices for professional development of faculty members of MACFAST.

With signing of this collaboration agreement with BSNL, Faith InfoTech join the elite club organizations worldwide, offering training services to the entire Information, Communication, Technology Industry.
The number of telecom subscribers in India, have already crossed 500 million and is expected to double to one billion by year 2013.
Indian Telecom Industry is today facing severe shortage of skilled professionals capable of designing, rolling out and maintaining the telecom network. The nationwide roll-out of 3G by multiple operators, expansion of operations of existing operators and new operators entering the industry, would further aggravate the existing shortage for competent work force in the Indian Telecom Industry.

Lalitha Prasad was the Head of Corporate Learning Centre, Tata Consultancy Services at Trivandrum.
He is a postgraduate in applied mathematics and has more than 30 years of experience in IT and Software development. He started his professional career as a software developer with Indian Space Research Organization in 1973. He has been associated with most of the launch vehicle projects of ISRO. He has developed software for trajectory simulations, Monte-Carlo simulations, orbit determinations, 3D visualizations, etc. He was a member of many review committees including the ISRO software engineering standards committee. He qualified as an auditor for ISO 9000 standards.
After spending 24 years with ISRO, he joined TCS as a faculty in 1997. He was teaching software engineering and programming courses, before being elevated as training-in-charge to manage the fresher’s training program. He has also worked for client projects for TCS projects in South Africa and Saudi Arabia

A Dialogue session on ‘Competency Development – Sharing of International Best Practices’ was organized by Faith InfoTech Academy for Professional Advancement at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram. The sessions were held for a full day on March 6, 2009. The dialogue focused on topics of current interest for faculty and management of engineering colleges and for organizations, especially in the IT sector.
Over 40 participants from various engineering colleges and industry participated in the event. Participants included eminent faculty, including Principals, HODs and Professors, from about a dozen engineering colleges in Kerala.
Mr. Saji Joseph, Director and CEO, Faith InfoTech, welcomed the participants and highlighted the relevance of such dialogues. He also spoke about how Faith InfoTech is enabling individuals and organizations to rise to higher levels of performance by developing their competencies.
Mr. R. Narayanan, Director and Chief Mentor of Faith InfoTech, set the stage for further discussions by sharing his experience in mentoring thousands of young engineers and working professionals. He drew from his experience as Vice President -Learning & Development and Advisor - Global Learning & Development at Tata Consultancy Services. He also shared his observations on the international best practices based on the work he had done as a member of the International Steering Committee on Software Engineering Education & Training.
Mr. Jolly Joseph, Director – Learning Services spoke about effective approaches for learning facilitation, specifically in the context of engineering education. The topics included learning styles, problem based learning and constructivist approach to learning facilitation. He also gave a presentation on how learning can be enhanced using appropriate technologies, drawing from his experience as a designer of e-learning tools. This session stressed the importance of collaboration and effective feedback on learner’s performance.
The morning sessions concluded with an interesting demonstration of Moodle by Ms. Lily Antony, Manager - Learning Services. The demonstration highlighted the various features of Moodle being used to facilitate learning at Faith InfoTech Academy for Professional Advancement.
Representing the industry viewpoints, Mr. Lalitha Prasad, Head of TCS Learning Centre spoke on Agile Methodologies in Software Engineering. Ms. Bindu Narayan, Corporate Manager, Quality & Training, Tata Elxsi gave a thought-provoking presentation on Processes for Quality Excellence. Mr. Satish Babu, President of InApp Information Technologies, and an evangelist of Free and Open Source Software gave an enlightening talk on the benefits and vast possibilities of Open Source. Mr. Rejath M., Service Delivery Manager, IBS Software Services, gave the practitioner’s viewpoint of Project Management. The concluding remarks were given by Dr. Venkatesh Choppella, Associate Professor, IIITM-K, who drew from his rich experience as a hands-on teacher and researcher in both academic institutions and multinational companies.
The Dialogue Session set the stage for further collaboration between engineering colleges and companies at Technopark, especially in the area of competency development.

Mr. R. Narayanan, a leading expert in the field of IT education and training has joined Faith InfoTech as Chief Mentor and Director. Mr. Narayanan retired as Vice President (Learning & Development), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. Subsequently as Advisor, Global Learning & Development at Tata Consultancy Services, he mentored the learning initiatives of over 100000 TCS professionals in Technology, Domain, Management and Soft skills. He has worked closely with academic institutes in influencing higher technical education globally.
A Gold medallist masters in Mathematics with additional diplomas in Statistics and French, Narayanan has over four decades of experience with IT and specially Software. Before joining TCS in 1995, he had an impressive stint of 26 years with the Indian Space Research Organization.
He had been a Visiting scientist / faculty at a number of academic and R&D institutions in USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Singapore and India. He has specialized in software engineering processes, formal methods for behavioral verification, Quality Assurance for embedded systems and holistic paradigms for consulting.
Mr. Narayanan chaired NASSCOM’s task group on Workforce development for the IT sector. The recommendations contained in the study report have impacted the academia and industry in several countries. He is currently a member of the International Steering Committee on Software Engineering Education & Training (CSEET), representing the Asian viewpoint. In this capacity he had functioned as Chair, Program Committee and editor of the proceedings of the CSEET conference held at Dublin, Ireland in July 2007.
